LEARN ITALIAN IN FLORENCE

Florence is a beautiful city, capital of the Tuscany region, its population is of about 400,000 people. It's surroundend by mountains and hills, the city is considered the center of the Renaissance and is famous for its art and architecture.

  About the city

The climate of Florence is mostly warm with hot, dry summers and cool, damp winters. Florence is on the main national railway lines, it is easily accessible from most important places both in Italy and abroad. The main airport, Amerigo Vespucci, is located 5 kilometres from the city centre where both national and international airlines stop.

In the 14th-16th centuries a surge in artistic, literary, and scientific investigation occurred in Florence, precipitated by Florentines' preoccupation with money, banking and trade and with the display of wealth and leisure.

Florence has architectural masterpieces, that's why this city has a lot of visitors each year, specially in summer time. The historical area is in a small part of the city, you can visit many of these places easily on foot.

But Florence has not only art and culture, also has wonderful shopping, excellent eating and peaceful and enjoyable parks.

There are many traditions and events in Florence, some of them are: the New Years Day, a national holiday throughout Italy. Epiphany is another national holiday and another day of presents for the good children and lumps of coal for the not so good ones. In February is celebrated the carnival, with costumes, confetti and traditional food and drink.
