 LEARN ITALIAN IN MILAN
 Milan is a historic city, with enough churches and museums to keep you busy for a week - the Accademia Brera, duomo and the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie - but there are also parks and cafés to relax in, and the contemporary aspects of the place represent the leading edge of Italy's fashion and design industry. Historic Milan is located within the inner Cerchia dei Navigli, which follows the route of the medieval city walls. Piazza del Duomo, a large, mostly pedestrianized square that's rarely quiet at any time of day. This square is the world's largest Gothic Cathedral, notable as much for its decoration as its size and with a front that's a strange mixture of Baroque and Gothic. 
Since the 1970s, Milan was the capital of Italy's automobile industry and its financial markets, but now is dominated by the fashion houses, who, in turn, have drawn media and advertising agencies to the city. Milan remains the marketplace for Italian fashion, supermodels and international paparazzi descend upon the city twice a year for its spring and autumn fairs. The most famous fashion designers are Valentino, Versace and Armani, they design and manufacture their clothes elsewhere but Milan, which has carefully guarded its reputation for flair, drama and creativity, is Italy's natural stage.

Milan's cultural scene is very attractive too, in music, opera lovers know the Teatro alla Scala and is also the home of classical ballet in Milan, the Teatro Piccolo founded by Giorgio Strehler and Paolo Grassi in 1947 is also visited.
