 LEARN ITALIAN IN VIAREGGIO
 Viareggio is easily reached by bus or by train from anywhere in Italy. The city was created in the 16th century, and its name derives from the Latin 'Via Regis' that means 'King's Road', the name of a road built in Middle Ages. The Viareggio Carnival was created based in the idea of making a sunday a little different of the rest, a sunday full of fun and new things, and was invented a procession of decorated floats which travelled up and down the main street of the city.
For those days the citizens made a mask protest against the taxes, the parade was a success, it was liked a lot by everyone and since then Viareggio has become the home of the Italian Carnival, with the masked parades that are works of art to which the citizens sometimes dedicates a hole year of workmanship.
Because Viareggio has wonderful beaches, inviting climate and Mediterranean lifestyle have been attracting many visitors for years. This is the perfect place to combine holiday, tradition and culture. You can enjoy the beach one day and the next one you can explore the town's history and art and have a beautiful night out dancing at any disco or enjoying a classical concert.
