ITALIAN LANGUAGE FACTS

Italian is an Indo-European Language and is spoken by around 62,000,000 in countries like: Switzerland, San Marino and Italy, and also in North and South America. It is also the second language in Vatican City and in some areas of Slovenia and Croatia.

The History of this language says that Italian is a mixing of some dialects from the south of Italy, specifically the Sicilian with its 'Tuscan'. Italian is very closest to Latin and shares approximately 85% lexical similarity to Spanish and French. Italians says the best spoken Italian is that one of Bocca Romana, the Lingua Toscana, this dialect became the most important because it was spoken in Tuscany and at that time this city had a big economic power, specially considering Pisa's influence.

Italian is closely to Sicilian and the extint Dalmatian, both of them are Italo-Dalmatian Languages, and the three are part of the Italo-Western group of the Romance Language.
